Job description

Insight Global is seeking a fully remote PostgreSQL Developer / Database Engineer who will be responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and supporting enterprise-scale PostgreSQL database environments. This role involves creating and maintaining scalable database architectures, developing complex SQL and PL/pgSQL code, and optimizing database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, and execution plan analysis. The engineer will manage high-availability and disaster recovery solutions, including replication, failover, backup, and recovery processes, while ensuring database scalability and reliability. Daily the individual will work closely with application development, data engineering, and business teams to support data integration initiatives, ETL/ELT pipelines, and event-driven architectures. They will leverage PostgreSQL administration and monitoring tools to troubleshoot issues, maintain database health, and support migrations and upgrades. The role also includes implementing data governance and security controls, ensuring data quality, compliance, and protection of sensitive information. Additionally, the engineer will contribute to cloud-based database deployments, automation initiatives, CI/CD processes, and the development of applications and services utilizing PostgreSQL within modern cloud-native environments.

Must-Have Skills

• 5+ years of PostgreSQL development and database engineering experience
• Strong expertise in PostgreSQL database design, architecture, and data modeling
• Advanced SQL and PL/pgSQL development experience
• Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL indexing strategies (B-Tree, Hash, GIN, GiST, BRIN)
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL administration and tooling (pgAdmin, psql, pg_dump, pg_restore, monitoring tools)
• Experience building and supporting ETL/ELT processes and data integration solutions
• Knowledge of Kafka, Change Data Capture (CDC), and real-time data pipelines
• Programming experience with Python, Java, SQL, and/or Bash
• Experience supporting REST APIs, microservices, and Spring Boot applications
• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes
• Cloud database experience with AWS RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, or Google Cloud SQL
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD tools
• Strong understanding of database security, RBAC, encryption, auditing, and sensitive data protection (PHI, PII, PCI)

Salary: $85,000/per year - $120,000/per year
