Aero Mechanical, Inc. in Johnston, RI invites applications for a Commercial Sprinkler Fitter Apprentice to learn installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of fire sprinkler systems.

You will work with experienced fitters in a safety‑driven team environment and progress through on‑the‑job training and local 669 apprenticeship programs. The role emphasizes learning to read drawings, perform measurements, and install pipe, heads, valves, and related equipment while adhering to safety

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be physically fit to do the work of the trade.
• No prior construction experience required (helpful but not required).
• Must be able to join the local #669.
• Must pass drug test and medical exam.

Responsibilities

• Assist experienced sprinkler fitters with installation of systems.
• Learn to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and sprinkler plans.
• Measure, cut, thread, grooving, assembling, and installing pipe and related components.
• Install sprinkler heads, valves, hangers, fittings, and other fire protection equipment.
• Assist with system testing, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Safely operate tools and maintain a clean, safe work area.
• Follow safety procedures and applicable codes.

Aero Mechanical, Inc., one of the leading contractors in the area, has an exciting opportunity for a commercial Sprinkler Fitter Apprentice working from our Johnston, RI office. We are seeking a motivated and dependable apprentice to join our team and learn the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of fire sprinkler systems. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in developing a skilled trade career while gaining hands‑on experience working alongside experienced sprinkler fitters.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, willing to learn, and comfortable working in construction environments.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist experienced sprinkler fitters with the installation of fire sprinkler systems in commercial, industrial, and residential buildings.
2. Learn to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and sprinkler system plans.
3. Assist with measuring, cutting, threading, grooving, assembling, and installing pipe and related components.
4. Help install sprinkler heads, valves, hangers, fittings, and other fire protection equipment.
5. Assist with system testing, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs.
6. Safely operate hand tools, power tools, lifts, and other job‑site equipment as trained.
7. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
8. Follow company safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and applicable fire protection codes.
9. Load, unload, transport, and organize tools, materials, and equipment.
10. Work effectively with journeymen, foremen, project managers, and other construction trades.
11. Attend required apprenticeship classes, safety training, and technical instruction.
12. Perform additional assignments as requested and maintain a teamwork attitude.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must have other than dishonorable discharge from military (if applicable).
• Must be physically fit to do the work of the trade.
• Previous construction, mechanical, plumbing, or trade experience is helpful but not required.
• Must be able and willing to join the local #669.
• Strong interest in learning the sprinkler/fire protection trade.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Ability to read and follow instructions.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new tools and techniques.
• Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work well as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license preferred.
• Must be able to pass appropriate drug test and medical exam.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment, potentially weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined or elevated spaces for extended periods.
• Ability to work from ladders, lifts, scaffolding, and elevated work platforms as required.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather and job‑site conditions.
• Ability to safely perform physically demanding construction tasks.
