Job summary

Ellington Management Group is seeking motivated Computer Science or related engineering students to join our Software & Data Engineering teams as co-ops for Spring Summer 2027. Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, MIS, or related field.
• 3.0 Overall GPA required.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical and communication skills.
• Experience through coursework, projects, internships, or other relevant work.

• Assist with design, development, testing, and maintenance of internal software applications, APIs, dashboards, and data workflows.
• Build and enhance tools that automate data retrieval and processing from external sources using Python, Selenium, or similar tools.
• Write SQL queries to validate data completeness, quality, and timeliness.
• Collaborate with engineers to understand requirements and translate them into practical solutions.
• Document work clearly and communicate progress and findings to the team.

++SPRING SUMMER 2027 CO-OP — SOFTWARE DEVELOPER / DATA ENGINEER++

Ellington Management Group is seeking motivated Computer Science or related engineering students to join our Software & Data Engineering teams as co-ops for Spring Summer 2027. This is an opportunity to gain hands‑on experience across software engineering, data engineering, workflow development, and data quality while working alongside experienced engineers, researchers, and business stakeholders.

Co-ops will contribute to internal tools and data pipelines used across the Firm. Assignments may include application development, data‑collection automation, data analysis and reconciliation, testing, documentation, and AI‑enabled engineering workflows.

This position can be located in either Old Greenwich, CT or New York City.

++Responsibilities++

• Assist with the design, development, testing, and maintenance of internal software applications, APIs, dashboards, and data workflows.
• Build and enhance tools that automate the retrieval and processing of data from external websites and other sources, using Python, Selenium, or similar scripting and automation tools.
• Learn existing data flows and write SQL queries and scripts to validate data completeness, quality, consistency, and timeliness.
• Work with existing monitoring frameworks to identify and help resolve data‑quality or workflow issues.
• Perform data analysis and reconciliations to validate system functionality and data integrity.
• Support enhancements to automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and software‑development processes.
• Assist with code refactoring, technical documentation, and other efforts that improve the reliability and maintainability of internal systems.
• Contribute to internal AI initiatives, including LLM‑enabled workflows and AI‑assisted developer tools.
• Collaborate with engineers and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.
• Document work clearly and communicate progress, questions, and findings to the engineering team.

++Qualifications++

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
• 3.0 Overall GPA
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Coursework, projects, internships, or other experience demonstrating programming ability.
• Familiarity with Python and SQL; experience with web automation or data extraction tools, such as Selenium, is a plus.
• Exposure to one or more of C#, JavaScript, or TypeScript is helpful.
• Interest in front‑end development; familiarity with React, Angular, or similar frameworks is a plus.
• Interest in AI‑assisted development tools, such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot.
• Ability to work collaboratively, take ownership of assigned work, and learn quickly in a fast‑paced environment.

Experience or coursework involving financial markets, mortgage‑backed securities, portfolio‑management systems, or accounting systems is helpful but not required.
