• Design and develop substation protection and control for distribution and/or transmission stations using Microstation CAD design software
• Participate in meetings with internal and external departments/vendors
• Attend trainings related to engineering, safety, and leadership
• Support the drafting team when needed
• Support the RTU team when needed

The co‑op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.

POSITION SUMMARY/DETAILS:

Tampa Electric is wishing to provide an opportunity for college students or recent graduates the opportunity to explore career options within the field of Substation Engineering Protection & Controls. This includes allowing students to apply academic knowledge, skills, gain career skills, build resumes, and network with emergency management professionals.

Accountabilities:

• Design and develop new and existing substation engineering protection and control for distribution and/or transmission stations using Microstation CAD design software
• Participate in meetings with internal and external departments/vendors
• Attend trainings related to engineering, safety, and leadership
• Support the drafting team when needed
• Support the RTU team when needed

Physical Location of Co-op: TECO Central Service Area located at 2200 Sligh Ave Tampa, FL 33610

Working Conditions: In‑office

Preferred Availability: Part-Time (15‑40 hours)

Education/Certification/GPA:

• The successful applicant should be enrolled in an ABET accredited university or college undergraduate or a graduate level post‑secondary educational program in a related discipline.
• A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.
• To qualify as a co‑op student, enrollment in the university's co‑op program is a must.
• To qualify for a substation engineering co‑op position, the candidate must have successfully completed their junior year at an ABET accredited Institution.
