Job summary

Earthjustice’s Public Affairs & Communications team is accepting applications for two part-time interns for spring 2027. This paid position may be remote within the U.S. and offers hands-on experience in climate and public-interest communications.

You will support campaigns, draft press materials, track climate news, and collaborate with lawyers, policy staff, coalitions, and other communicators to sharpen messaging and advance Earthjustice’s docket and advocacy goals.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled as a college student as a sophomore, junior, or senior in spring 2027.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite; comfortable learning new tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Commit to 15–18 hours/week.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of communications campaigns.
  • Draft materials like press releases, media advisories, reporter pitches, op-eds, and more.
  • Track news stories related to climate and energy issues and produce media reports on narrative trends, emerging risks, and opportunities.
  • Proactively share insights and briefings on message testing, polling, research, and more.
  • Collaborate across Earthjustice’s communications department, and work with coalitions and legal experts.

Earthjustice’s Public Affairs & Communications (“PAC”) team is accepting applications for two part-time interns for spring 2027. We are seeking undergraduate students who share a passion for justice and a healthy environment. This is a paid position, and the successful candidate may work remotely within the U.S.

The PAC team works closely with attorneys, policy staff, clients, and coalition partners to develop and implement strategic communications to support litigation and legislative advocacy in Earthjustice’s docket and build Earthjustice’s profile. The internship is designed as a structured learning opportunity that empowers the intern to apply communication skills, produce written materials, and gain practical experience in climate and public-interest communications.

What You’ll Do
  • Support the development and implementation of communications campaigns.

Please note that the above serves as a guideline and that other duties may be assigned as part of the job’s requirements.

What You’ll Bring

  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and comfort navigating and learning new tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Earthjustice’s values of Justice, Excellence, Inclusion, and Partnership.
  • Must commit to 15-18 hours/week.
Compensation

Interns at Earthjustice receive an hourly rate that is considered taxable income. The spring 2027 hourly rate for undergraduate students is $19.61.

Submit materials by Friday, September 18 at 5:00pm PT.

Applications will be reviewed beginning September 21 with offers extended no later than November 13.
