You will assist with automation projects, PLC/HMI programming, instrumentation, data collection, and documentation while working under experienced engineers.

This internship offers hands-on experience with Fanuc robotics, industrial controls, and cross-functional collaboration in a world-class manufacturing facility.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited university and eligible to participate in a co-op program.
  • Completed coursework in electrical circuits, industrial controls, PLCs, programming, automation, or related subjects preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Controls Engineers with automation, instrumentation, and controls projects throughout the facility.
  • Support installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and improvement of PLC, HMI, and plant automation systems.
  • Participate in programming, testing, and debugging PLC and HMI applications under the guidance of experienced engineers.
  • Assist with collecting, analyzing, and reporting manufacturing process and equipment data.
  • Support development and maintenance of technical documentation, procedures, schematics, and project records.
  • Work with cross-functional teams on continuous improvement projects.
  • Help troubleshoot electrical, electronic, instrumentation, and control system issues on production equipment.
  • Assist with setup, calibration, and maintenance of plant instrumentation and automation equipment.
  • Gain exposure to robotic automation systems, including Fanuc robots and automated manufacturing cells.
  • Support data acquisition and plant information systems as needed.

Job description

  • Assist Controls Engineers with automation, instrumentation, and controls projects throughout the facility.

  • Maintain accurate documentation of project work, troubleshooting activities, and system modifications.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited university and eligible to participate in a co-op program.
  • Completed coursework in electrical circuits, industrial controls, PLCs, programming, automation, or related subjects preferred.
  • Interest in manufacturing automation, instrumentation, robotics, and industrial control systems.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, robotics, or programming languages such as C#, Visual Basic, Python, or similar is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of electrical schematics, troubleshooting techniques, and industrial equipment preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Prior internship, co-op, project, or laboratory experience involving automation, controls, robotics, or manufacturing.
  • Exposure to Allen-Bradley PLCs, FactoryTalk View, Fanuc Robotics, or industrial networking concepts.
  • Experience using CAD or electrical design software is a plus.
