PPL Corporation in Lexington, KY invites a student intern to join our engineering team focused on transmission lines. The Co-op will assist engineers with surveying facilities, layout development, and CAD drawings, gaining hands-on experience in an energized utility environment.
Preferred candidates are pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, with a minimum 2.5 GPA, and able to work part-time during the semester (~10–15 hours/week) or full-time in the summer.

During your internship, you will gain experience and exposure to practical engineering applications within the utility industry. Students work alongside experienced engineers and will perform a variety of projects and assignments that have specific instructions and expected results.
Required Education/Experience
Pursuing a Bachelor's degree with declared major in Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering
Available part time during the semester (~10-15 hours week) and full time during the summer.
Minimum 2.50 GPA
Work Conditions
Combination of office and field work.
Physical Effort
Primarily sitting, with occasional walking and standing.
Transmission Lines: Co-op will assist engineers with surveying existing facilities and construction layouts, coordinating underground utility locates, providing department database support, and review of shop drawings. Co-op will be responsible for developing construction drawings and documents, creating structure and foundation CAD drawings, and scanning and filing as-built drawings. As term progresses, co-op may be responsible for development of PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE design models. This position will involve both office and field work.
