Job summary

BerryDunn in Portland, ME is seeking an Audit Intern to gain hands-on experience with cash management, receivables, inventory, fixed assets, payrolls, and expense analysis while supporting audit engagements across Health Care, Not-for-Profit, Financial Services, and more.

You will learn via training on CaseWare Trial Balance, Electronic Workpapers, and depreciation software, work 24 hours per week, and have the chance to participate in multiple seasons (Spring/Summer 2027).

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in Accounting or related business program.
• Available to work a minimum of 24 hours per week.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
• Strong analytical, written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

This internship offers an opportunity to work with clients across diverse industries such as Health Care, Not-for-Profit, Financial Services, Manufacturing, Construction, Higher Education, and many others.

What You'll Do

• Review & Audit Engagements: Participate with team members on audit and review engagements supervised by senior staff members.
• Research: Conduct thorough research on audit issues utilizing firm software.
• Client Interaction: Collaborate with clients from a wide range of industries, gaining exposure to diverse business practices.

We have openings for

• Spring 2027 running from January 5, 2027 through April 16, 2027.
• Summer 2027 running from May 25, 2027 through August 6, 2027.

Additional Requirements

• Currently enrolled as a student in an Accounting or related business program.
• Available to work a minimum of 24 hours per week over three business days (opportunities for 40 hours during summer session).
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
• Strong analytical, communication (written & verbal), and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Compensation Details

The hourly rate for this role is $30 per hour. This rate range represents BerryDunn's good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications more than the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply, and a final rate may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The hourly rate for the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, amount of travel, and other relevant business considerations.
