Job summary

ARMADA INC. is seeking a Sprayer to apply marine coatings on Navy vessels at shipyards and customer facilities. You will use spray painting systems to coat interior and exterior surfaces, following NAVSEA standards and approved mixes.

The role requires safety training and the ability to work in demanding environments. Expect on-site work at shipyards and customer sites, with potential travel. OSHA 10 Maritime and 2+ years in marine coatings are preferred, offering a non-exempt, full-time

Qualifications

Formal or informal on-the-job training provided.
C-12 or C-14 Certification required.
Minimum 2 years’ experience applying coatings in marine environments.
OSHA 10 Maritime Standards preferred or company-provided.

Responsibilities

Paint interior and exterior ship surfaces using marine coating systems.
Mix and match coatings per NAVSEA and manufacturer standards.
Prepare surfaces and apply coatings to specifications.
Operate spray equipment and brushes; protect nonpainted areas.
Follow chemical handling, waste storage and disposal rules.

SUMMARY

Use marine coating systems application techniques and equipment to professionally pressure interior and exterior Navy Vessel surfaces.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Paint parts, equipment, interior and exterior of the ship and in protected laydown areas.
Utilize correct mix ratios in accordance with NAVSEA and manufacturer approved standards.
Wipe down and treat surface with applicable solutions.
Mix and match colors of paint, epoxy, urethane, and enamels.
Apply coating system to specifications
Operate spray painting equipment and/or brushes or rolls.
Masks, removes, covers, or otherwise protects furniture, hardware, trim, and other nonpainted surfaces.
Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent
Complies with chemical and waste storage and disposal regulations and best practices.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & ATTRIBUTES

Knowledge in HLVP, Spray Painting and Airless
Knowledge of spoxies and UHS Coatings
Knowledge of surface preparation tehnciques
Ability to troubleshoot spray equipment
Ability to estimate and check mil thickness being applied
Knowledge of storage and disposal regulations and best practices
Basic understanding of NAVSEA Standard Item 009-32

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Formal or informal on the job training
C-12 or C-14 Certification
2+ years of experience in the application of coatings in the marine industry
OSHA 10 Maritime Standards (Company may provide)

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, heights, confined spaces, precarious places, proximity to other employees.
Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, bending, twisting, squatting
Ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50+ pounds (50 lbs occasionally, 25 lbs frequently, 10 lbs constantly)
Lifting includes from floor to waist, waist to shoulder, waist to overhead
Ability to climb stairs and ladders
May be required to wear a respirator
Some travel may be required
