Job summary

Specialty Coating Systems in Johnstown, PA is seeking a detail-oriented coating technician to apply coatings to high-tech electronics according to exact specifications. The role involves manual work and touch-up processes to meet customer requirements.

You will read Manufacturing Travelers, operate precision spray equipment, mix coatings and thinners, and ensure safe, efficient operations in a fast-paced environment. Good dexterity and teamwork are essential.

Responsibilities

• Duties include coating high tech electronics to exact specifications per Manufacturing Traveler, by hand and with touch up.
• Knowledge of various coating mediums used for our customers.
• Stand/sit for long periods during coating operations.
• Operate spray guns and adjust them for coating type; mix thinner with coating for optimum coverage.
• Mix and work with 2-part coatings.
• Understand coating removal methods based on material type.
• Organize set-up time for sprayed materials while coating other assemblies.
• Run Precision Coat automated spray machine and/or Parylene coating machines.
• Read and interpret Manufacturing Travelers for customer assemblies.
• Use microscope or magnifying glass as required.
• Tolerate smells of coatings and thinners.
• Read and interpret drawings/working travelers.
• Work in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
• Work independently and in a group.
• Demonstrate good dexterity and careful hand work.
• Work with fine tools (X-acto knives, paint brushes, tweezers, orange sticks, micrometers).

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Duties include the ability to coat high tech electronics to the exact specifications that are called out on the Manufacturing Traveler, either by hand and the additional use of touch up.
• Knowledge of the various coating mediums used for a variety of our customer's.
• Job requires ability to stand/sit for long periods of time during the coating operation.
• Ability to work with spray guns and adjusting them accordingly based upon the type of coating, as well as mixing the right amount of thinner to coating mixture to give the best overall coverage and protection.
• Ability to mix and work with 2 part coatings
• Also demonstrate knowledge of coating removal methods based upon the material type being used.
• Time management skills are needed to organize "set-up" time of material sprayed on the PCBs while simultaneously working on other assemblies that need to be coated as well.
• Must posses good computer skills in order to run Precision Coat automated spray machine and/or Parylene Coating Machines
• Must also be able to read and interpret a Manufacturing Traveler associated with the particular customer's assemblies.
• Use of microscope and/or magnifying glass as required.
• Must be able to tolerance the smell of coatings and thinners.
• Must be able to read and interpret drawings/working travelers
• Work in a fast paced, detailed oriented environment.
• Must be ale to work independently as well as within a group
• Must have good dexterity and demonstrate the ability to work well with hands
• Must be able to work with fine tool (i.e. Xacto knifes, paint brushes, tweezers, orange sticks, micrometers)
