Job summary

Fort Wainwright MWR Youth Sports & Fitness is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time position in Alaska. Eligible candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in physical education or equivalent experience in sports program delivery, coaching, and youth-related activities.

Job description

This Full-Time position is with Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Youth Sports & Fitness at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. A cut-off of 10/20/2026 will be used to send eligible applicants to management.

CYS Regular and FLEX employees (working a minimum of 15 hours) will receive a 100% discount on childcare for their first child and at least 25% for each additional child. Relocation incentive available for this position. Please see "Additional Information" section below.

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

• Possess a bachelor's degree or higher in physical education.
• OR All of the following equivalent in scope and complexity to the next lower grade level:
  • 1. Experience managing or assisting in the delivery of a sports or physical education program which included both individual and team sports.
  • 2. Demonstrated knowledge of the skills and techniques needed for various sports.
  • 3. Experience coaching or working with coaches to apply techniques and required skills/fundamentals for various sports.

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": Recommended highly-qualifying: In addition to meeting one of the requirements above, highly qualified candidates will possess experience working in a sports program specifically for children or youth; or at least 12 semester hours in college coursework directly related to children or youth (i.e., PE for children, motor skills development, childhood development, early/elementary/secondary education, health/nutrition for children, child/adolescent psychology, etc.).
