Job summary

AWARE in Billings, MT seeks an Assistant Sports Program Coordinator to support the Special Olympics program across Montana. This full-time role starts at $52,000 per year and offers opportunities to grow within a compassionate, inclusive team.

You will help plan events, coordinate staff and volunteers, assist with education resources for athletes, and promote Therapeutic Recreation Services. A background in therapeutic recreation or related field and a valid Montana driver's license are

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Therapeutic Recreation, Human Services, Education, or related field; minimum one year of relevant care/education experience.
• Two or more years programming for individuals with disabilities may be considered.
• Five+ years programming for individuals with disabilities may be considered.
• Must have or be willing to obtain Montana Driver's License and pass background checks.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, with the Sports Program Coordinator, the planning and implementation of the AWARE Special Olympics program throughout Montana.
• Support fundraising efforts and identify funding sources for athlete participation.
• Assist in volunteer, coach, and staff orientation and training for Special Olympics participation.
• Provide education and resources to athletes to support personal goals.
• Help coordinate Special Olympics teams and practices across Montana.
• Support athletes and teams at events and games statewide.
• Promote Therapeutic Recreation Services and AWARE Special Olympics internally and externally.
• Provide TR interventions to assigned caseload following policy and procedures.
• Implement individualized support plans with behavioral techniques and understanding of needs of individuals with disabilities.
• Utilize basic computer skills and electronic medical records systems.
• Show strong oral and written communication and ability to relate to diverse groups.
