Job summary

The YMCA is seeking a Strength and Conditioning Coach to work under the Director of Strength and Conditioning. You will design fitness plans, set goals, and deliver safe one-on-one or semi-private training while maintaining a clean, supportive environment.

You’ll lead group performance programs, recruit clients, track progress, and ensure adherence to YMCA policies. Certifications, CPR/First Aid/AED, and a degree are required.

Qualifications

  • Primary certifications: current nationally accredited personal training certification (e.g., ACE, NASM, ACSM).
  • Two years of sports performance coaching experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Olympic lifts and foundational strength/power movements.
  • Experience with youth athletes and age-appropriate athletic development.
  • Current certification in area(s) of expertise.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED and BBP certifications required.
  • College degree in related field and at least one year of personal training experience preferred.
  • Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, encouraging one-on-one or semi-private training following professional guidelines.
  • Lead group sports performance programs focused on speed, agility, strength, and power development.
  • Recruit potential new clients and maintain accurate records and logs.
  • Maintain professionalism, dress code, and timely session scheduling.
  • Modify programs for diverse health and fitness levels and special needs.
  • Ensure a clean, safe environment and CDC-compliant practices.
  • Respond to emergencies per YMCA policies and maintain client confidentiality.
  • Collaborate with staff across departments to enhance member experience.
