YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a program staff member to lead youth sports activities, ensure safety, and provide a high-quality experience for participants and parents on game days, practices, camps, and academies.
You will promote YMCA core values, supervise staff, coordinate teams and schedules, and support marketing and volunteer efforts. Flexible weekend hours are required, with opportunities to develop youth development programs.
Provides direction for the program to staff on game days, during practices, and at camps and academies. Provides a quality experience to participants and parents that focuses on youth development.

1. At least 21 years of age.
2. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training upon hire.
3. Must possess oral, auditory and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with both children and adults.
4. Must have a keen desire to work with children and have the ability to relate to them in a positive, patient, sensitive and non-judgmental manner.
5. Must possess basic knowledge of sports.
6. Must have flexible schedule to work weekends.
Prior childcare experience. Sports related knowledge in a youth setting is preferred.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, run, stoop, and kneel. Flexible with scheduling and available to work operational hours of the YMCA, which may include day, evenings and weekends.
