Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center seeks a Psychotherapist/Athletic Counselor to provide athletic counseling for OSU Sports Medicine and varsity student-athletes. The role reports to the Lead Sport Psychologist within Ohio State Athletics, emphasizing evidence-based clinical skills and performance support.

Responsibilities include psychotherapy, education, and collaboration with the student-athlete care team, while adhering to Medical Center policies and standards of practice.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Social Work or Counseling or education accepted by the State of Ohio for licensure.
• Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) required.
• 1 year of relevant experience required.
• 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Athletic Counseling: Provides psychotherapeutic interventions to assist student-athlete to cope with mental health disorders, relationship problems, performance issues, and related concerns.
• Wellness / Prevention: Visits practices, competitions, training rooms, and athletic facilities regularly and delivers psychoeducational programming to student-athletes.
• Collaborates with supervisor and other medical specialists to enhance student-athlete outcomes and participates in interdisciplinary care meetings.
