Job summary

Bayhealth Medical Center seeks a full-time physician forBayhealth Medical Group Physician Practices. The physician will provide direct patient care under established protocols and maintain required medical staff privileges.

Responsibilities include clinical exams, ordering and interpreting tests, patient education, and ensuring ongoing licensure, CME, and board certification. Active participation in staff meetings and Bayhealth initiatives is expected.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine degree and completed residency.
• Board Certification (BC) or Board Eligible (BE) per Bayhealth Medical Staff Bylaws.

Responsibilities

• Perform appropriate physical exams and document findings.
• Utilize and interpret diagnostic tests and provide referrals or consultations.
• Provide patient education to promote wellness and address health risk behaviors.
• Provide coverage to care for patients in ambulatory, hospital, and other settings as agreed.
• Maintain clinical, technical, and surgical skills credentialed for practice.
• Dispense medications appropriately considering age, condition, allergies, interactions and duration of therapy.
• Maintain Delaware medical and CSR licenses, including CME and Board certification requirements.
• Participate in and support departmental, organizational, and community committees as appropriate.
• Stay updated with new knowledge from conferences and literature and apply to practice.
• Contribute to Bayhealth Medical Staff Credo and integrate research knowledge to improve practice.
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance patient care and referrals.
• Attend Bayhealth Medical Staff Meetings and other leadership-requested meetings.
• Support Bayhealth strategy and initiatives.

General Summary:

The physician provides direct care to patients in accordance with established protocols, practices and standardized care guidelines.

In addition to job description requirements, incumbents must also meet minimum criteria for medical staff privileges.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform appropriate physical exams and document appropriately and in a timely manner.
2. Utilization and interpretation of appropriate diagnostic tests (i.e. laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging and procedures appropriate to their specialty) and provide appropriate referral or consultation.
3. Perform patient education and counseling to promote wellness. Consistently address and provide resources for health risk behaviors.
4. Provide agreed upon coverage to care for patients in the appropriate settings (ex. ambulatory office and/or hospital) during business hours and evening/weekends, as mutually agreed upon and per medical staff bylaws.
5. Physician will maintain and provide the clinical, technical and surgical skills to which they have been credentialled to perform.
6. Physician will use the appropriate pharmacological dispensing consistent with patients age, medical conditions, allergies, drug interaction and duration of therapy assuring quality of care in the dispensing of both narcotic and non-narcotic medication.
7. Physician will maintain an updated Delaware medical and CSR license and DEA license, including required continuing medical education (CME) and appropriate Board certification.
8. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
9. Participates in departmental, organizational, and/or community committees/activities as appropriate.
10. Analyzes new knowledge gained from conferences, workshops, professional literature and assimilates this knowledge into clinical practice.
11. Supports and practices the Bayhealth Physician Medical Staff Credo.
12. Contributes to medical knowledge by synthesizing new research and medical knowledge and uses appropriately to improve healthcare practice.
13. Participates in and supports the integrated continuum of care of patients within Bayhealth to enhance the quality of care.
14. Embraces a sense of community and commitment to partnership, standards of performance and increasing patient referrals among members of the medical staff.
15. Have collegial and collaborative relationships with colleagues and staff.
16. Attend quarterly Bayhealth Medical Staff Meetings; practice meetings; and other meetings as requested by the leadership team.
17. Embrace and support Bayhealth strategy and initiatives.
18. Other duties as assigned by leadership.

Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

• Education: Doctor of Medicine ; Completed Residency. BC/BE per Bayhealth Medical Staff Bylaws.
• Credential(s): Physician - Controlled Substance Registration Physician MD DEA Diversion Control Division; 45627 Or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) licensure.
