Job summary

The City of Clermont offers selected applicants full sponsorship for Basic Law Enforcement Academy costs, with employment as a CPD Recruit at 40 hours per week while enrolled. After attaining FDLE certification, recruits are appointed Police Officers with pay and benefits commensurate with the rank.

This non-exempt position follows FLSA overtime provisions. Applicants must meet health, citizenship and background requirements and will undergo a rigorous selection process including polygraph and

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Must be at least 19 years old.
• U.S. citizen required.
• Medically cleared to participate in the CPD physical abilities test.
• Successful completion of the CPD physical abilities test.
• No felony convictions or misdemeanors involving perjury or false statements.
• No dishonorable discharge from the Armed Forces.
• Background investigation to determine good moral character.
• Must pass physical exam, physical abilities test and drug screen.
• Must complete CPD hiring/background process including polygraph and psychological exams.
• Must have a valid Florida Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Participates and completes the Florida Law Enforcement Certification.
• Participate and completes the Minimum Standards Course set forth by the Florida Police Standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
