Newark Academy is seeking a reliable, safety-minded Full-Time School Bus Driver to transport students to and from campus, field trips, and athletic events. The role requires professionalism and a welcoming representation of the school.

The position features a split shift, 6:15 am-9:15 am, 2:30 pm-6:30 pm with a paid lunch, a 10-month term with benefits, and a pay range of $25.00–$30.00 per hour depending on factors.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid New Jersey CDL Class B or A with P and S endorsements.
• Clean driving record for last 3–5 years.
• Pass the mandatory New Jersey Criminal History Review and background check.
• Pass a DOT physical exam, vision screening, and drug/alcohol screenings.
• Willingness to complete NJ Office of School Bus Safety training updates twice per year.
• Patient demeanor and ability to interact with children, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Transport students to and from school, field trips, and events safely and punctually.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety inspections daily.
• Maintain a respectful, orderly bus environment and report issues to administration.
• Adhere to traffic laws, federal regulations, and NJ safety guidelines.
• Participate in emergency bus evacuation drills and handle emergencies calmly.
• Keep the vehicle clean and report mechanical defects promptly.
