Job summary

North Sky Communications, LLC is seeking a Fiber Splicer I to fuse optical fibers and support vital network builds. You will perform fieldwork in both aerial and underground environments, ensuring quality data transmission and reliable connections.

Qualifications

• At least 1+ year of current fiber splicing and climbing experience in telecommunications.
• Certified pole climber OR ability to demonstrate hands-on proficiency climbing poles using ladders and gaffs.
• Age 18+ with legal authorization to work in the U.S.
• Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent practical experience.
• Valid State Driver’s License with a clean driving record and ability to pass a DOT physical.
• Basic understanding of telecommunications network structure and architecture.

Responsibilities

• Hands-On Fieldwork: Perform cable upgrades and fusion splicing tasks across aerial and underground environments with team guidance.
• Testing & Activation: Test, activate, and troubleshoot post-installation circuits to verify quality connection and data transmission.
• Height & Aerial Navigation: Safely navigate working at various heights, from underground structures to elevated aerial spans.
• Quality & Safety Standards: Ensure all splicing work complies with company, customer, and industry standards.
• Field Reporting & Ops: Complete daily production reports, mark up field maps, maintain material logs, and perform basic daily vehicle upkeep.
• Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need

Experience: At least 1+ years of current fiber splicing and climbing experience in the telecommunications field.

Climbing Capability: Certified pole climber OR ability to demonstrate hands‑on proficiency climbing poles using ladders and gaffs.

Basic Requirements: Age 18+ with legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent practical experience.

Driver & Health Requirements: Valid State Driver’s License with a clean driving record (non-provisional) and ability to pass a DOT physical exam to maintain a valid medical card.

Technical Knowledge: Basic working understanding of telecommunications network structure and architecture.

Physical Abilities & Exposures

• Routinely: work at heights, occasional entry into attics and crawl spaces and alone in remote locations, operate vehicle and heavy machinery; squeeze, fine hand motion, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs, and lift up to 55 pounds without assistance.
• Occasionally: work in confined spaces, use ladder and gaffs for climbing poles, keyboard and mouse.
