Dycom Industries, Inc. in Lindon, Utah is seeking a Fiber Splicer to fuse optical fibers and upgrade cables, ensuring reliable telecom connections. You’ll test and troubleshoot post-install circuits and maintain accurate documentation.

The role covers aerial and underground splicing with safety and quality at the forefront. Requirements include age 18+, US work authorization, a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, ability to pass a DOT medical exam, and 6 months of splicing or 1

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Authorized to work in the United States for the company.
• High School Diploma or GED or related work experience.
• Valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Able to pass a DOT physical exam for a valid medical card.
• 6 months splicing experience or 1 year in telecommunications.

Responsibilities

• With guidance, perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground.
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot the network’s circuit post-installation.
• Ensure all splicing operations meet customer and industry standards.
• Safely navigate working at heights, from underground to in the air.
• Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles and document work.
• Record material usage and mark maps in daily production reports.

What You’ll Do

• With guidance, perform cable upgrades and splicing tasks, both aerial and underground
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot the network’s circuit post-installation
• Ensure all splicing operations meet strict customer and industry standards
• Safely navigate working at different heights, from underground to in the air
• Complete basic daily maintenance of vehicles, including fluid checks
• Document work performed through daily production reports, including marking up maps and keeping correct material usage records
• Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need

• To be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
• Valid State driver's license (cannot be considered Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
• 6 months of splicing experience or one year of experience in the telecommunications industry

Additional Qualifications

• Certified pole climber or capable of demonstrating proficiency as a pole climber, is preferred
• Knowledge of telecommunications network structure

Physical Abilities & Exposures

• Routinely: work at heights, occasional entry into attics and crawl spaces and alone in remote locations, operate vehicle and heavy machinery; squeeze, fine hand motion, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs, and lift up to 55 pounds without assistance.
• Occasionally: work in confined spaces, use ladder and gaffs for climbing poles, keyboard and mouse
