Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. (Spirit Defense) is seeking personnel to join its Defense Business Unit in Wichita.

The role focuses on building composite structure details and assemblies using carbon and other composite materials, following drawings and process specifications to ensure timely, high-quality delivery. Responsibilities include multi-tasking on platforms up to ten feet high, working in confined spaces, and using tools and technology for precise lay-up.

• Willingness to work any shift; 2nd shift common for new hires.
• Ability to obtain U.S. Secret Security Clearance and Special Program Access; U.S. Citizenship required.

• Utilize tools and technology (digital gauges, lasers) for lay-up and assembly.
• Keep a clean, organized work area and assist teammates.

Overview

This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, at Spirit’s Defense Business Unit ("Spirit Defense"). Spirit Defense is an independent supplier to the defense and space marketplace. Through innovative engineering and rapid prototyping excellence, Spirit Defense provides the capabilities, technologies and support customers need to succeed in their missions.

Responsibilities

• Work within a team and independently to build composite structure details and assemblies using carbon and other composite materials
• Work to instructions from drawings, documents, process specifications, quality control requirements, and established processes and procedures, to assure the timely delivery of quality products to the customer
• Perform multi-tasking and multi-machine operation where applicable
• Work on platforms up to ten feet above the ground
• Work in confined spaces
• Work over head
• Work within a team environment
• Proficient use of technology i.e. computer, phones, laser projection, digital vacuum gauges
• Use hand pressure and small tools to form and contour lay-up
• Ability to use tools such as scissors, knives, pushing tools, markers, and other small tools
• Maintain a clean working environment and clean as you go

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

• All applicants must be willing and able to work any shift, including alternative work weeks. Majority of new hires will be hired on 2ndshift.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance and Special Program Access (for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship)

Summary Pay Range: $22.52/hour, with potential to earn up to $37.40/hour in accordance with the terms of the relevant collective bargaining agreement.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
