Job summary

Miller Integrated Solutions is seeking a Spill Response Technician in Corpus Christi, TX. You will respond to spill incidents, assess sites, and coordinate cleanup efforts while operating specialized equipment and maintaining detailed logs.

Role requires critical thinking under pressure, strong communication, and the ability to work both independently and in a team. Expect 12-hour shifts with potential overtime and travel to Miller sites as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid TWIC Card required.
  • Hazardous materials handling or spill response certification preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of spill response or related field experience.
  • First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
  • Experience with industrial equipment and environmental compliance is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to spill incidents, ensuring containment and cleanup per safety regulations.
  • Assess spill sites to determine extent and response strategy.
  • Operate and maintain spill response equipment (booms, skimmers, pumps, absorbents).
  • Coordinate with team and external agencies to manage response efforts.
  • Document incidents and cleanup progress for reports and compliance.
  • Inspect and maintain spill response equipment for readiness.
  • Participate in drills and training on best practices and procedures.
  • Assist in developing spill response plans and procedures.
  • Ensure proper disposal of contaminated materials per regulations.
  • Support other environmental and safety initiatives as needed.

Primary Responsibilities and Key Deliverables
  • Respond promptly to spill incidents, ensuring containment and cleanup in accordance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct initial assessments of spill sites to determine the extent and type of spill, and develop appropriate response strategies.
  • Operate and maintain spill response equipment, including booms, skimmers, pumps, and absorbents.
  • Coordinate with other team members and external agencies to manage spill response efforts effectively.
  • Document spill incidents, response actions, and cleanup progress, maintaining accurate records for reporting and compliance purposes.
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance of spill response equipment to ensure readiness.
  • Participate in spill response drills and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and emergency procedures.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of spill response plans and procedures.
  • Ensure proper disposal of contaminated materials in accordance with environmental regulations.
  • Provide support for other environmental and safety initiatives as needed.
Required Skills and Competencies

  • Familiarity with hazardous materials handling and disposal procedures.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid TWIC Card.
  • Certification in hazardous materials handling or spill response preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in spill response or a related field.
  • First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
  • Experience with industrial equipment and environmental compliance is a plus.
Work Environment

Tools, equipment, machinery used: Hydroblasting, Vacuum Truck, and Tank cleaning equipment.

Working conditions: Will be exposed to all weather conditions. Work on various structures and surfaces both at ground and elevated levels up to and possibly exceeding 150 ft. Work in confined spaces. Work a 12-hour shift with 30-minute lunch breaks. If requested, work overtime, and respond to emergency callouts whenever they occur. Work days, nights, and weekends. Travel to customer and other Miller sites as needed.

Physical effort required: Handling tools, materials, and equipment weighing up to 150 lbs. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, crawl, bend, squat, and kneel. Must be capable of climbing towers/vessels/tanks.
