Job summary

ASML Wilton Factory Optical Fabrication team is seeking a highly skilled Process Engineer to drive manufacturing operations, improve equipment capability, and enhance product performance. You will partner with engineering, quality, and production teams to deliver data-driven improvements and robust process control.

Qualifications include 10+ years in optical fabrication, hands-on experience with CNC machining and polishing, and expertise in RCA and lean methods.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Champion a safety-first culture by identifying hazards and ensuring EHS compliance.
• Develop complex spherical optics on precision CNC Generators, High-Speed Polishers, and centering machines.
• Implement advanced machining strategies and tooling designs for continuous improvement.
• Optimize cycle times, toolpaths, feeds/speeds, and workholding for quality and throughput.
• Collaborate with production, quality, and metrology to resolve technical challenges.
• Diagnose and resolve machining issues related to tooling, fixturing, programming, and equipment behavior.
• Partner with maintenance and vendors to address machine performance and reliability.
• Analyze machining performance using SPC and data-driven problem solving; drive capability studies.
• Define process specifications and control limits; use JMP/Minitab for data-driven decisions.
• Perform hands-on process trials and support qualification of new equipment and materials.
• Support root-cause analysis for quality deviations; drive 5S and workplace organization.

Introduction to the job

This position is for a highly skilled, innovative, and motivated Process Engineer to join the ASML Wilton Factory Optical Fabrication team. This role supports daily manufacturing operations, drives continuous improvement, and partners closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to advance equipment capability and product performance.

Role and responsibilities

• Champion a safety-first culture by identifying potential hazards, implementing risk mitigation strategies, and ensuring all work adheres to established EHS safety protocols
• Develop complex spherical optics on precision CNC Generators, High-Speed Polishers, and centering machine.
• Implement advanced machining strategies and tooling designs for continuous improvement efforts.
• Optimize cycle times, toolpaths, feeds/speeds, and work holding to improve quality and throughput.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality, and metrology to resolve technical challenges and implement sustainable solutions
• Diagnose and resolve machining issues related to tooling, fixturing, programming, and equipment behavior.
• Partner with maintenance and vendors to address machine performance, repeatability issues, or reliability concerns.
• Analyze machining performance using SPC, capability studies, and data-driven problem solving.
• Define process specifications and control limits; utilize statistical analysis tools (e.g., JMP, Minitab) to evaluate process capabilities and drive data-driven decision-making and maintaining 6P=P from feasibility to production-readiness phases
• Perform hands-on process trials and support qualification of new equipment, materials, and process changes to enhance production performance.
• Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for quality deviations or nonconformances.
• Drive 5S and workplace organization around CNC areas.

Education and experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Optical, Materials, or related field)
• Minimum 10+ years of experience in optical fabrication process engineering or a related manufacturing environment
• Hands-on experience with optics fabrication techniques, including CNC machining, polishing, and surface inspection
• Proficient in root cause analysis (RCA) and lean manufacturing tools
• Familiarity with metrology techniques and quality assurance in optics manufacturing
• Demonstrated ability to lead problem-solving initiatives and implement process improvements
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with ability to work effectively across different departments
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight deadlines

Skills

• Manufacturing of spherical or plano optical elements
• Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE) and Six Sigma methodologies
• Solid Modeling Software, NX
• CAM Software, Mastercam
• Proficiency in data analysis tools such as JMP, Minitab, or equivalent software
• Experience with SAP or MES systems
• Knowledge of cleanroom protocols and practices

• Capability to respond to production issues in a timely manner, which may occasionally require extended periods of standing or walking through production areas with various fabrication equipment
• Some travel may be required to support global manufacturing and supplier interactions
