Responsibilities

The Speech Therapist in Home Health assesses and evaluates patient care needs related to speech and language disorders, communication, swallowing, and cognitive impairments.

• Provide services within the scope of practice defined by state laws, in accordance with the care plan, and in coordination with the healthcare team
• Evaluate patient function using diagnostic and prognostic tests; assist physicians in developing therapy plans
• Treat patients to improve communication based on their condition, following accepted standards of practice
• Instruct patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members in speech therapy areas where they can participate

Education and Experience

License Requirements

• Must be currently licensed in Speech Therapy in the state of practice
• Current CPR certification required
• Must have a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation
