Job description

Pay Range: $55.00 - $60.00 per hour

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients within twenty‑four (24) hours, or one business day, of physician referral.
  • Document evaluation delays and imaging in the medical record as required.
  • Develop effective treatment plans and obtain approval for services from the referring physician.
  • Treat patients per the physician treatment plan.
  • Supervise Speech Language Pathologist Assistants in direct patient care and patient‑related activities, following state practice act.
  • Communicate with supervisor and other health team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans.
  • Participate in Patient Care Conferences, Utilization Review meetings, and Rehabilitation Conferences as needed.
  • Participate in services training program for other staff in the facility.
  • Record evaluations, daily treatment notes, weekly progress notes, recertification documentation, per Speech and Language Pathologist in the Board State Practice Act and governmental and third‑party payer requirements.
  • Record treatment changes per policy and procedures.
  • Instruct patient’s families or nursing staff in maintenance program and caregiver training in preparation for discharge from therapy services.
  • Participate in discharge planning.
  • Act as a clinical preceptor for affiliating CFY/RFP Speech Language Pathologist and student programs.
  • Comply with the Speech Language Pathology and Audiology Bureau State Practice Act and the facility policy and procedures.
  • Maintain positive, effective, and appropriate relationships with patients/residents, families, staff, and professional colleagues.
Supervisory Requirements

Supervises CFY – Speech Clinical Fellows, if applicable, and assists nursing with training of Restorative Aides.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Speech Language Pathologist Therapy; preference for graduates of Master’s or Doctorate Program in Speech Language Therapy.

  • Proficient in computer skills such as inputting data into programs such as Casamba and Point Click Care.
Skills

Language Skills: Ability to read technical procedures, read and comprehend policy and procedure manuals, effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, coworkers, and families.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems, interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Licensed as a Speech Therapist in the state.
  • Employee must meet continuing education requirements per state practices.
  • Maintain a license in good standing at all times with the state board.
