An established healthcare provider seeks a dedicated Speech Therapist to join their team in Apache Junction. This role involves evaluating patients swiftly, developing tailored treatment plans, and supervising assistants to ensure optimal patient care. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, participate in conferences, and guide families in maintaining care post-discharge. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Speech Language Therapy, with advanced degrees preferred, and be proficient in relevant software. Evaluate patients within twenty-four (24) hours or one business day of physician referral. If unable to complete the evaluation in 24 hours, document the cause for delay clearly in the medical record. Develop an effective treatment plan and obtain approval from the referring physician. Treat patients according to the physician treatment plan.
Supervise Speech Language Pathologist Assistants in direct patient care and related activities, following state practice acts. Communicate with supervisors and other health team members regarding patient progress, issues, and plans. Participate in Patient Care Conferences, Utilization Review meetings, and Rehabilitation Conferences as needed.
Participate in in-service training programs for staff. Record evaluations, daily treatment notes, weekly progress notes, recertification documentation, and treatment changes in accordance with the Speech and Language Pathologist Board State Practice Act, governmental, and third-party payer requirements. Instruct patients' families or nursing staff in maintenance programs and caregiver training in preparation for discharge. Participate in discharge planning.
Act as a clinical preceptor for CFY/RFP Speech Language Pathologists and student programs. Comply with the Speech Language Pathology and Audiology Bureau State Practice Act and facility policies. Maintain positive, effective, and appropriate relationships with patients, families, staff, and colleagues.
Supervisory Requirements: Supervise CFY - Speech Clinical Fellows and assist nursing staff with training Restorative Aides.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Speech Language Therapy; Master's or Doctorate preferred. Proficient in computer skills, including Casamba and Point Click Care. Ability to read technical procedures, policy manuals, and effectively communicate information. Ability to apply mathematical concepts and solve practical problems. Interpret instructions in various formats.
Licenses and Certifications: Licensed as a Speech Therapist in the state; maintain continuing education and license in good standing.
Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, and tasting/smelling. Occasionally sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Ability to exert significant force and perceive visual details.
Work Environment: Usually low to moderate noise levels. Reasonable accommodations available.
