# SPEECH THERAPIST-388## OverviewSalary Range$36.00 - $57.00 HourlyPosition TypeFull TimeJob ShiftDayEducation LevelMasters Degree## Description**Job Summary:** The Speech-Language Pathologist utilizes select knowledge and skills to evaluate, plan and provide care and services for patients with developmental or acquired impairments of verbal and written language, voice articulation, fluency, auditory and visual processing, cognition, memory and alternative/augmentative communication, and swallowing. Impairments that may be addressed are: apraxia, aphasia, dysarthria (flaccid, spastic, ataxic, hypokinetic, hyperkinetic and mixed dysarthrias), voice disorders and maxillo-facial disorders **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:*** + Providing skilled evaluation and treatment of patient’s needs performed through an intensive evaluation process, including, but not limited to: a review of past medical history, oral peripheral examination, speech production evaluation, receptive and expressive language evaluation, cognitive evaluation, assessment of augmentative means of communication, bedside swallowing examination, and diagnostic testing such as swallowing evaluation under fluoroscopy. + Creating an appropriate plan of care that includes measurable functional goals while considering patient’s psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs + Providing clear documentation that meets ASHA and other regulatory guidelines and billing for appropriate charges in a timely manner + Perform family/caregiver/patient education to increase independence upon discharge. + Developing an appropriate discharge plan that includes discharge location, level of assistance, assistive device needs, as well as recommending community resources that may be available.**Essential Values-Based, Leadership and Management Competencies:**Demonstrates competencies in line with the five core values that are the foundation of all activities performed by employees in order to achieve the Mission of Artesia General Hospital**ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES**:* + As assigned. Speech-Language Pathologists demonstrate knowledge of principles and practices of speech-language pathology and are proficient in their performance of technical skills related to speech-language pathology.* **Work Experience:** Greater than one year of experience preferred, but new graduates welcomed to apply* **License/Certification:** Must have current licensure with the New Mexico Speech Language Pathology Board.
