Key responsibilities of a school speech pathologist include:

• Direct Therapy Provision: Providing individual or small group therapy sessions to address identified speech and language goals using appropriate therapeutic techniques and materials.
• Classroom Consultation: Consulting with teachers to provide strategies and support for incorporating communication skills into the classroom curriculum and addressing student needs within the learning environment.
• Progress Monitoring and Evaluation: Regularly assessing student progress toward their IEP goals and making adjustments as needed.
• Parent Communication: Communicating with parents about their child's speech and language development, providing information on therapy strategies, and involving them in the treatment process.
• Required skills and qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
  • A current state license to practice speech pathology
  • Certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
