Job summary

Christian Living Communities in Denver, CO seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist to diagnose and treat language, voice and swallowing disorders. You will build trust-based relationships with residents and their families while delivering individualized therapy plans and progress notes.

Applicants should have a graduate degree in therapy, 2–3 years' related experience or equivalent, and an active state license with CPR certification.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited therapy program.
  • 2–3 years of related experience, or equivalent
  • Current Speech Language Pathologist state license; CPR certification

Responsibilities

  • Performs assessments and diagnoses, and develops treatment plans for language and swallowing disorders.
  • Evaluates levels of swallowing, speech, and language difficulty and identifies appropriate treatment options.
  • Creates and carries out individualized treatment plans addressing residents' functional needs and personal goals.
  • Teaches residents techniques to improve sound production, voice, and fluency tailored to each individual.
  • Creates goals and objectives for residents to work toward, celebrating progress.
  • Provides support and advice to residents, caregivers, and family with warmth and patience.
  • Counsels residents and families on coping with swallowing and communication disorders.
  • Builds strong relationships with residents over time, showing genuine interest in their lives.
  • Compiles notes on progress and adjusts therapies as needed.
  • Documents resident care services according to procedures.
  • Collaborates with team members to foster an inclusive workplace culture.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited therapy program.
  • Experience: 2–3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current Speech Language Pathologist state license; CPR certification.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication, active listening, and social perceptiveness

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
  • Physical stamina to lift, transfer, and assist residents through physical activities.
  • Requires frequent lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 50 lbs. unassisted, including assisting residents when needed.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with residents in person and over the phone.
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of residents and reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
