Job summary

RSU#23 is seeking a half-time Speech-Language Pathologist to join our speech and language team. The role includes services in both mainstream and special education, with a focus on IEPs, assessments, and collaborative practice with staff and families.

Licensed Maine SLP CCC is required along with CHRC. The position is 0.5 FTE for the 2026-27 school year, with starting placement per collective bargaining guidelines.

Located a 1/2 mile from the Atlantic Ocean and 15 minutes from Portland, RSU#23 is a 675 student, three school district seeking a half-time speech-language pathologist to join our amazing speech and language team. The successful candidate should possess the following:

  • Valid Maine Speech-Language Pathologist license
  • Current and valid CHRC

Responsibilities / Qualifications Summary
  • Provide services in both the mainstream and special education settings for students of all abilities
  • Conduct case management, including writing and maintaining compliant IEPs, as well as facilitating meetings
  • Determine need and administer appropriate assessments
  • Present evaluation results in a comprehensive manner and share results with team members, both orally and in written reports
  • Comply with all state and federal guidelines
  • Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and share best practices
  • Excellent communication with parents, teachers, administration, community leaders, and other stakeholders to promote and support student success
  • Demonstrated ability of understanding and supporting the academic, social, and emotional needs of students with varying needs
  • Interest in participating in the school community outside of the classroom
  • Exemplary time management and organizational skills
  • Support a total communication approach that may include AAC devices

SALARY RANGE: $23,690 - $45,320 (salary shown is prorated to reflect this 0.5 FTE / part-time role).

Starting placement within the Collective Bargaining Agreement step scale is determined by prior credited experience and education level.
