Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology is required.
• Current state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist is required and must be maintained.
• CCC-SLP certification is preferred but not required at hire.

Responsibilities

Purpose and Overall DutiesThe Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) evaluates, plans, and implements individualized speech and language therapy programs for patients in a long-term care or related setting. The role focuses on improving communication, cognition, and swallowing function to enhance patient safety and quality of life.II. Essential Job FunctionsA. Patient Evaluation and Treatment PlanningEvaluate patients’ speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities using standardized assessments and clinical judgmentDevelop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, physician orders, and regulatory requirementsEstablish measurable goals and modify treatment plans as necessary based on patient progressB. Patient Care / InterventionImplement therapeutic interventions to improve speech, language, voice, fluency, cognition, and swallowing functionProvide dysphagia management, including assessment and treatment of swallowing disordersEducate patients and caregivers on communication strategies, swallowing precautions, and home programsRecommend diet modifications and adaptive strategies as appropriateC.
