Responsibilities

  • Plan and provide individual and group speech and language therapy under the direction of a licensed SLP.
  • Assist with screenings and evaluations as directed by supervising SLP.
  • Implement behavior management techniques per the SLP guidance.
  • Follow documented treatment plans and protocols developed by the supervising SLP.
  • Document student progress and report to the SLP.
  • Assist with assessment tasks including documentation and materials preparation.
  • Maintain organized charts and data for progress tracking.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings to enhance professional knowledge.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB TITLE: Speech Language Pathologist Assistant

EMPLOYMENT TERM: Academic SY

JOB SUMMARY

The rewards of being a Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) are immeasurable. This position seeks a person who is passionate about supporting students to be successful in both academics and personal/social areas. A successful SLPA in our community is one who works under the direction of the Speech Language Pathologist in an effort to help students reach their full potential. You support by providing direct or consultative services to students to help reduce or eliminate disabilities related to speech and/or language in order to derive full benefit from the district's educational programs. You will be impacting a quality education for every student every day!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and provide appropriate individual and group speech and language therapy to students consistent with speech/language goals under the direction of a state-licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP).
  • Assist with screenings and evaluations as directed by supervising SLP.
  • Implement behavior management techniques as instructed by the SLP.
  • Implement documented treatment plans or protocols developed by the supervising SLP.
  • Document student progress toward meeting established objectives and report information back to the SLP.
  • Assist the SLP during assessment with tasks including, but not limited to assisting with formal documentation, preparing materials and performing clerical duties.
  • Schedules activities, prepares charts and records graphs and data to assist in maintaining an organized environment.
  • Performs equipment maintenance checks.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and training to increase professional knowledge.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Arizona standard Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Certification.
  • Level One IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
