Job summary

Unified Community Connections is seeking a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant to provide AAC, AT, and SLP therapy and training to individuals with disabilities across Central Maryland. The SLPA will travel to multiple locations as needed and support licensed SLPs.

Candidates must hold a ASHA-accredited bachelor's, be licensed as SLPA in Maryland, and possess strong organizational skills, ability to lift 25 lbs, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from ASHA-accredited university required.
  • Maryland SLPA licensure or eligible licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide AT setup and training in physical access, cognitive, and low vision areas.
  • Provide AAC training services based on plans developed by a licensed SLP.
  • Assist with troubleshooting AAC and AT tools and prepare training materials.
  • Complete case management including scheduling, billing and service provision.
  • Travel to Montgomery, Frederick, Washington, Carroll, Garrett, and Baltimore counties with travel reimbursement.

Unique Opportunity for a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant to provide Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC), Assistive Technology (AT), and Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) therapy and training services to individuals with a variety of disabilities. Candidates must be willing and able to drive to different locations throughout Central Maryland and should be flexible with their schedule, caseload, and ability to work easily with others.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide AT Setup and Training in the areas of physical access, cognitive, and low vision.
  • Provide AAC training services for individuals with disabilities based on plans developed by a licensed speech-language pathologist.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and problem solving relative to AAC and AT tools.
  • Assist with the preparation and organization of training materials and resources.
  • Prepare written reports as required.
  • Complete Case Management, including scheduling, billing, and service provision.
  • Maintain accurate training logs with relevant data to document client progress.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development related to the field.
  • Day travel to the following counties: Montgomery, Frederick, Washington, Carroll, Garrett, and Baltimore with travel reimbursement provided.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Bachelor’s Degree from ASHA accredited university
  • Must have completed all clinical requirements for Speech-Language Pathology Assistant, as defined by the Maryland Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathologists and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Have active state-level licensure as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)
  • General knowledge of AAC and AT devices
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Skills

  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Experience with AAC/AT service provision preferred

The following are required to be considered for employment:

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Motor Vehicle Record with 2 or less points
  • Ability to lift 25 Lbs. unassisted

Physical Requirements

Audio-visual acuity to be able to read small print and perform perceptual diagnostic assessments. Ability to reach, stoop, crouch, push, walk, stand, and lift 25 pounds.
