Job summary

Essentia Health’s Saint Josephs Rehabilitation Department is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to evaluate and treat pediatric patients in speech, language, cognition and swallowing per ASHA guidelines.Role includes treatment planning, education for patients and caregivers, and discharge planning.

The position offers a full caseload management, administrative duties, and opportunities for staff education. Weekend on-call rotation is required; remote/hybrid options may be available.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in SLP from an accredited program.
  • Current state licensure to practice speech-language pathology.
  • Pediatric experience is preferred and beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Therapy evaluation, treatment planning, and discharge planning for a full caseload.
  • Documentation, billing, scheduling, and other administrative duties for patients.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and supervises support staff per policy.
  • Complies with organizational code of conduct and ethics.
  • Occasionally works across departments based on patient needs; participates in education and onboarding.
  • May serve as clinical instructor and participate in department committees.
  • Schedule typically Monday–Friday with weekend on-call rotation approximately every 4–6 weeks.

Job Description

Evaluates, plans, treats and implements care for pediatric patients in the areas of speech, language, cognition and swallowing accordance with professional standards of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) using any established Clinical Practice Guidelines.

Education Qualifications
  • Master's degree from accredited speech and language pathology program
  • In this role, you will work as a Speech Language Pathologist with our Pediatric population.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provides therapy evaluation, treatment planning, treatment, patient/caregiver education, and discharge planning for a full caseload of patients
  • Provides all ancillary/administrative requirements for a full caseload of patients, including documentation, billing, scheduling management, and other administrative duties
  • Demonstrates appropriate communication, professionalism and supervision of support staff (licensed assistants, aides, volunteers) and complies with all organization policies
  • Complies with organization code of conduct
  • Meets professional organization core values, code of ethics, & scope of practice
  • Work where the patient need is highest (including flexing to other departments) when home department schedule allows
  • Provides staff education, participate/lead committee groups, participate in staff onboarding/orientation
  • May serve as a clinical instructor, participate in department or therapy discipline committees, and complete credential/certification that would benefit patient care
  • Schedule is generally Monday - Friday day-shift. This role includes a weekend (Saturday and Sunday) on-call rotation approximately once every 4-6 weeks. On-call hours are generally in the mornings, averaging 4-6 hours per day based on census
