MercyOne in Mason City, IA is seeking a Part-Time Speech-Language Pathologist to plan and implement habilitative and rehabilitative programs for individuals with speech, language and swallowing disorders. The role requires developing treatment plans, directing therapy, preparing written reports, and collaborating with patients, families, providers and nursing staff.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, current Iowa licensure, and preferably ASHA

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology is required.
  • Current licensure from the Iowa Department of Public Health is required.
  • ASHA Certification is desirable (CFY supervision available for new graduates).
  • Special aptitudes include tact, understanding and compassion and ability to communicate well with professionals, patients and families.

  • Develops treatment plans, directs, supervises, and treats patients/caregiver in accordance with treatment plan.
  • Consults and communicates with patient, family, providers, and nursing staff.
  • Assist multidisciplinary team with discharge planning and establishes home therapy programs.
  • Completes required documentation on patients and maintains other department records.
  • Assists in cost containment through efficient use of work time and supplies.
  • Promotes efficient utilization of resources/supplies and ensures charges are appropriate.

Employment Type: Part time Shift: Day Shift Description: This individual is responsible to plan and implement habilitative/rehabilitative programs for individuals who exhibit speech/language/swallowing problems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Plans, directs, evaluates, and conducts habilitative and rehabilitative programs to treat speech, language and/or swallowing disorders.
  • Prepares written reports of diagnostic findings, intervention techniques used, progress made and follow-up status in a timeframe according to policy and procedure.
  • Develops treatment plans, directs, supervises, and treats patients/caregiver in accordance with treatment plan.
  • Consults and communicates with patient, family, providers, and nursing staff.
  • Assist multidisciplinary team with discharge planning and establishes home therapy programs.
  • Completes required documentation on patients and maintains other department records in accordance with departmental, health center policies and procedures.
  • Assists in cost containment through efficient use of work time and supplies
  • Promotes efficient utilization of resources/supplies. Ensures charges are appropriate based on services provided adhering to productivity guidelines.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s degree in the area of Speech/Language Pathology
  • Must have demonstrated competence in an acute patient care setting for at least one year. CFY supervision is available for those with no experience
  • Current licensure from the Iowa Department of Public Health
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association is desirable.
  • Special aptitudes include tact, understanding and compassion and ability to communicate well with other professionals, patients and their families, both verbal and written
