Job summary

HCA Florida Palms West Hospital in Florida is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) PRN to join our team. The role focuses on evaluating and treating patients to improve communication, cognition, and swallowing functions, with emphasis on engaging patients and families in care plans.

The SLP will develop and update individualized treatment plans, collaborate with physicians and nurses, and document progress and discharge summaries.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• Licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the applicable state.
• CCC-SLP certification (Certificate of Clinical Competence) is frequently required or preferred.
• Experience in adult acute care or direct patient rehabilitation (often a minimum of one year).

• Evaluating Patients: use standardized tools, tests, and observations to assess communication, memory, thinking, and swallowing skills.
• Treatment Planning: create and update care plans to help patients swallow safely and communicate clearly.
• Patient Education: teach patients and families home strategies, safety rules, and therapy goals.
• Team Collaboration: work with doctors, nurses, and other therapists to ensure smooth patient care and recovery.
• Documentation: record daily notes, evaluations, progress reports, and discharge summaries accurately and on time.

Standard Qualifications

• Education: Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• Licensure: State professional license to practice speech-language pathology.
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) is frequently required or preferred.
• Experience: Prior experience in adult acute care or direct patient rehabilitation (often a minimum of one year)
