Job description

Overview

In this role you will provide speech-language pathology services to patients impaired by cognitive/communicative or swallowing dysfunction, including assessment, treatment planning and implementation of treatment plans. Completes appropriate documentation and adheres to policies, procedures, applicable licensure laws, and current standards of clinical practice.

Facility

Facility Location: 3030 Greenfield Road, Royal Oak, MI 48073

Schedule: Part-Time, 4 to 6 hours per week.

Responsibilities
  • Conducts speech-language pathology screenings and evaluations to determine patient cognitive/communicative and/or swallowing status using standardized tests and measures.
  • Develops and implements treatment plans to reach patients’ highest potential for independence consistent with the professional and ethical standards of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) in order to improve and maintain function.
  • Assesses effects of treatment on an ongoing basis and modifies the patient’s plan to achieve maximum benefit.
  • Checks, instructs, assigns and reviews the work of CFY as assigned and in accordance with ASHA standards.
  • Confers with physician and other practitioners to obtain additional patient information, revise treatment program and integrate speech therapy treatment with other aspects of patient’s health care.
  • Provides documentation to maintain quality of the medical record as it relates to accuracy, continuity of care and reimbursement guidelines.
  • Participates, as requested, in patient and family care conferences.
  • Educates and instructs patient and family/caregiver(s) in treatment procedures to be continued when not in therapy or as a home exercise program.
  • Participates in Quality Assurance activities as directed by Agency Administrator and/or site-specific Director of Therapy.
  • Promotes current standards of clinical practice through participation in continuing education, in-service programs and certifications sponsored by the agency.
  • Participates in new program development to expand the clinical services of the rehabilitation agency.
  • Participates in agency meetings and additional activities as directed to facilitate effective agency operations.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence
  • Licensure as required by the State of Michigan
