Job summary

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist to provide age-appropriate care for patients from newborn to 20 years old within established standards. The role integrates into an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team and supports safe patient care in a leading pediatric setting.

Required is a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, GA licensure for SLP, CCC certification, and BLS within 30 days. No minimum experience is required, but pediatric experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Communication Disorders/Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited school.
• Georgia licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and CCC credential.
• BLS certification within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates patients, meeting established standards.
• Develops appropriate plan of care and implements effective treatment interventions founded in evidence-based practice.
• Completes documentation meeting departmental standards.
• Involves patients' caregivers in their care with tailored education.
• Provides clinical oversight to Speech-Language Pathology staff and students as assigned.
• Demonstrates age-specific competencies across neonatal to adult ages as applicable.
• Maintains accreditation readiness and travels to clinical locations as needed.

Job Description

Provides the highest quality age-appropriate care for patients newborn to 20 years of age within scope of practice and established standards for speech-language pathology. Functions effectively as a member of the rehabilitation team. Supports the mission of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in pediatrics or related experience in speech-language pathology.

Certification Summary

Job Responsibilities

• Evaluates patients, meeting established standards.
• Develops appropriate plan of care and implements effective treatment interventions founded in evidence-based practice so that functional outcomes are achieved.
• Completes documentation, meeting departmental standards for content, accuracy, and timeliness.
• Involves the patient's caregivers in their care, offering effective education and documentation tailored to the learning needs of both the patient and their caregivers.
• Provides clinical oversight to Speech-Language Pathology Aides, Speech-Language Pathologist Clinical Fellow/paid clinical experience, Rehab Aides and students as assigned.
• Demonstrates competencies that incorporate age-specific guidelines, including N=Neonate (less than 30 days), I=Infant (30 days to 1 year), EC = Early Childhood (1-5 years), LC = Late Childhood (5-13 years), A = Adolescent (13-18 years), AD = Adult (greater than 18 years as applicable), and ALL = all ages.
• Participates in maintaining and monitoring the work environment to ensure a continual state of accreditation readiness.
• Travels to clinical locations to provide patient care based on patient census, program development, and/or contract obligations with physician practices.
