Job summary

Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital seeks a Speech Language Pathologist II for their SBCH CRH Speech Therapy department responsible for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures relating to dysphagia, speech, language and cognitive disorders with patients with multiple diagnostic problems.

The Speech Language Pathologist II interprets, organizes, applies and modifies as necessary medically prescribed speech therapy to inpatients and/or outpatients, and serves as an independent clinician upholding Cottage

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• California state license or eligible for licensure.
• CCC-SLP from ASHA required; BLS certification.
• Minimum 6 months of SLP work experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement individualized speech therapy programs for patients.
• Provide care as an independent clinician aligned with Cottage Health values.

Job description

Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital seeks aSpeech Language Pathologist II for their SBCH CRH Speech Therapy department responsible for performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures relating to dysphagia, speech, language and cognitive disorders with patients with multiple diagnostic problems. The Speech Language Pathologist II interprets, organizes, applies and modifies as necessary medically prescribed speech therapy to inpatients and/or outpatients. Responsibilities include:

• Planning and Implementing programs to meet individual needs and provides patient care consistent with the Scope of Practice Standards and Code of Ethics of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association, and the California Board of Speech Language Pathology. Competency skills include the ability to provide care in a safe environment utilizing appropriate communication with sensitivity to special populations. This includes patients with diverse cultural backgrounds, age, developmental issues and physical impairments.
• The Speech Language Pathologist II is an independent clinician who is a leader in applying the Cottage Health (CH) Values of excellence, integrity, and compassion in patient care. A Level II clinician provides care in a skilled and effective manner, utilizing learned technical, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

All job qualifications listed indicate the minimum level necessary to perform this job proficiently.

Education:

• Minimum: Graduation from an accredited school of Speech Language Pathology (Master’s Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree with equivalent experience).

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

• Minimum: License applicant for the state of California (currently holds out-of-state license) or licensed as a Speech Language Pathologist in the State of California, Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech / Language Hearing Association. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.
• Preferred: Inpatient: FEES certification, MBSImP certification. Valid CA driver's license.

Technical Requirements:

• Minimum: Knowledge of speech therapy techniques and modalities. Basic computer skills for chart review and documentation in electronic medical record.

Years of Related Work Experience:

• Minimum: Required 6 months of work as a Speech Language Pathologist.

*Pay for non-physician positions is determined based on related years of experience and internal equity. Eligible employees may also receive additional forms of compensation, including shift differentials, on-call pay, incentive pay, and bonus opportunities, where applicable. Manager and above positions may participate in Cottage Health’s annual management incentive program. Physician compensation is determined based upon specialty and may include bonus potential.
