Position Summary

The Home Health Speech Language Pathologist – PPV PRN is responsible for modeling the Compassus values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Innovation, promoting the Compassus philosophy, using the 6 Pillars of Success as the foundation. They uphold the Code of Ethical Conduct and promote positive working relationships across departments and with external stakeholders. The role involves providing speech and language services to clients with speech and language complications, under the direction of the attending physician, in collaboration with family members, nurses, or other responsible persons as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Model Compassus values and 6 Pillars of Success to patients, families, and colleagues.
• Uphold the Code of Ethical Conduct and foster positive working relationships.
• Provide speech and language therapy services to clients in a home health setting.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and family members as part of the interdisciplinary care team.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Speech Language Pathology required.
• Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology preferred.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a home health setting required.

Skills

• Mathematical skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, including whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
• Language skills: ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, team members, and external parties. Strong written and verbal communication.
• Other skills: ability to understand, read, write, and speak English; articulate and embrace hospice philosophy.

Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

• Active, unencumbered Speech Language Pathologist license in state(s) of employment required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Roles require regular standing, walking, manual dexterity, ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds, close and distance vision, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposure to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and conditions typical to the field is expected. Routine use of standard medical equipment and tools associated with clinical care is essential.
