Job summary

Position

All KHI employees are expected to perform their respective tasks and duties in a way that supports KHI’s vision of providing the region’s best clinical care and patient service through an environment that fosters respect for others and pride in performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct a Speech and Language Pathology evaluation or screen.
  • Select and administer the appropriate diagnostic procedures to determine the extent of the patient’s impairment and the prognosis for improvement.
  • Develop an individualized Plan of Care with functional goals.
  • Provide appropriate therapeutic interventions.
  • Evaluate patient response to treatment and modify plan as necessary.
  • Document the course of patient care including progress made and the continuing need for treatment.
  • Provide patient and/or family education to help achieve goals.
  • Adhere to attendance policies and maintain a professional image for patients, families, clients, coworkers, and others.
  • Adhere to policies, rules, and regulations from KHI, the Arizona State Board of Speech and Language Pathology, and Medicare.
  • Assist with orientation of new staff as requested.
  • Meet KHI requirements for skills competency and safety.
  • Participate in continuing education/professional development activities.
  • Assist with the SLP students and Clinical Fellow program.
  • Participate in staff meetings, client relations, and marketing activities.
  • Documentation is complete and accurate, meeting all regulatory requirements.
  • Billing is completed by the end of each shift, accurate and justified in documentation.
  • Individual productivity meets department standards.
  • Patient satisfaction will meet or exceed department standards.
Qualifications
  • Education: Master’s Degree in Speech & Language Pathology (or foreign equivalent).
  • Licensure: Current Arizona License for Speech & Language Pathology.
  • Certification: BLS and AED through the American Heart Association. Certificate of Clinical Competency (or eligible).
  • Experience: Recent experience working with an adult and geriatric population.
Preferences
  • Education/Experience: Serving people with physical disabilities is desirable.
Special Position Requirements
  • Exposure Category: Category II – Expected duties have possible, but not routine, potential for exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.
Work Requirements
  • The incumbent shall have the ability to lift and transfer patients and equipment, and the ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, crouch, and communicate to provide therapeutic interventions.
