Position
All KHI employees are expected to perform their respective tasks and duties in a way that supports KHI’s vision of providing the region’s best clinical care and patient service through an environment that fosters respect for others and pride in performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct a Speech and Language Pathology evaluation or screen.
- Select and administer the appropriate diagnostic procedures to determine the extent of the patient’s impairment and the prognosis for improvement.
- Develop an individualized Plan of Care with functional goals.
- Provide appropriate therapeutic interventions.
- Evaluate patient response to treatment and modify plan as necessary.
- Document the course of patient care including progress made and the continuing need for treatment.
- Provide patient and/or family education to help achieve goals.
- Adhere to attendance policies and maintain a professional image for patients, families, clients, coworkers, and others.
- Adhere to policies, rules, and regulations from KHI, the Arizona State Board of Speech and Language Pathology, and Medicare.
- Assist with orientation of new staff as requested.
- Meet KHI requirements for skills competency and safety.
- Participate in continuing education/professional development activities.
- Assist with the SLP students and Clinical Fellow program.
- Participate in staff meetings, client relations, and marketing activities.
- Documentation is complete and accurate, meeting all regulatory requirements.
- Billing is completed by the end of each shift, accurate and justified in documentation.
- Individual productivity meets department standards.
- Patient satisfaction will meet or exceed department standards.
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s Degree in Speech & Language Pathology (or foreign equivalent).
- Licensure: Current Arizona License for Speech & Language Pathology.
- Certification: BLS and AED through the American Heart Association. Certificate of Clinical Competency (or eligible).
- Experience: Recent experience working with an adult and geriatric population.
Preferences
- Education/Experience: Serving people with physical disabilities is desirable.
Special Position Requirements
- Exposure Category: Category II – Expected duties have possible, but not routine, potential for exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.
Work Requirements
- The incumbent shall have the ability to lift and transfer patients and equipment, and the ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, crouch, and communicate to provide therapeutic interventions.
