Job summary

Villatoscanarehab in Houston, TX is seeking a Full-Time Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our in-house rehab team serving residents through person-centered care to achieve positive outcomes. Active Texas license in Speech-Language Pathology is required.

Prior SNF/long-term care experience is preferred. You will evaluate swallowing and cognitive deficits, develop individualized treatment plans, provide AAC systems, educate families, and collaborate with other professionals to ensure

• Active/Valid Texas license in Speech-Language Pathology.
• In good standing with regulatory agencies and licensing boards.
• SNF/Long term care experience preferred.
• Current knowledge of treatment practices.
• Knowledge of Net Health Electronic Documentation System preferred.
• Ability to manage patients with different types of personalities.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate residents' conditions for swallowing or cognitive deficits.
• Help residents in goals to improve Cognition or Swallowing.
• Education for residents and caregivers.
• Provide skilled, medically necessary speech and language therapy assessments and develop treatment plans to increase independence.
• Provide AAC systems for severe expressive and/or language disorders.
• Provide training to clients, family, caregivers, and professionals.
• Coordinate with other professionals for diagnostic swallowing procedures as ordered by physician.
• Demonstrate competent technical skills according to current Speech Therapy standards.
• Communicate changes in residents' condition.
• Provide accurate billing records and clinical documentation.
• Respond to family requests and concerns timely.
• Coordinate and provide training with Restorative Nursing and other care staff.
• Ensure no resident abuse or neglect; observe confidentiality and safeguards for patient information.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate Residents conditions for swallowing or cognitive deficits.
• Help Residents in their goals to improve Cognition or Swallowing
• Education for Residents and Caregivers
• Provide skilled, medically necessary speech and language therapy assessments as well as develop and implement individualized treatment plans to increase client’s independence and functioning.
• Provide augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems for individuals with severe expressive and/or language comprehension disorders.
• Provide training and education to clients, family, caregivers, and other professionals as a subject matter expert.
• Coordinate and collaborate with other professionals for diagnostic swallowing procedures (MBSS, FEES) as ordered by physician.
• Demonstrate competent technical skills according to current Speech Therapy standards of practice.
• Communicate changes in resident’s condition.
