Job summary

East Hartford Public Schools seeks a Speech & Language Pathologist for the Extended School Year program to assess, diagnose, and provide therapy to students with communication disorders in a supportive ESY setting.

The role involves collaboration with classroom staff, development of individualized therapy plans, progress monitoring, and recommendations for accommodations and assistive technology to support literacy and language skills in diverse learners.

Qualifications

• State of Connecticut License required.
• Graduate degree in specialized study for language/speech/hearing.
• State of Connecticut Teacher Certification in Speech & Language Pathology.
• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence preferred (Clinical Fellowship Year supervision available).
• Other alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Serve on multi-disciplinary teams to aid in developing a balanced oral language program.
• Provide therapeutic services for students with speech, language, and hearing disorders.
• Assist and guide teachers in observing and referring students with suspected impairments.
• Conduct assessments and maintain records of therapy and progress.
• Collaborate with staff to determine needs for augmentative communication systems.

CT License

Graduate degree in Speech-Language Pathology

CT Teacher Certification in Speech & Language Pathology

ASHA CCC preferred
