Job summary

The Speech Language Pathologist at Texas School for the Deaf in Austin provides services to students who are Deaf and hard of hearing, conducts evaluations, and delivers direct speech/communication services. Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech/Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Successful completion of one semester internship in Speech/Language Pathology.
  • CCC-SLP or CCC-CFY-SLP certification is required or pending.
  • Sign language proficiency will be developed to ADVANCED level per SLPI.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts communication evaluations per special education procedures.
  • Provides direct speech/language services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Offers in-service training and consultation to staff and parents on communication methods.
  • Develops and monitors IEP speech goals and coordinates with ARD/IEP decisions.
  • Maintains records, progress reports, and SHARS forms; supervises practicum students.

Education

Master’s Degree in Speech/Language Pathology
CCC-SLP or CCC-CFY-SLP
Internship completed in Speech/Language Pathology
Sign Language proficiency requirement (SLPI advancement)
