Job summary

Easter Seals Southwest Florida, Inc. is seeking a Speech Language Pathology Assistant to support therapy services for both children and adults.

Working under the supervision of a Speech-Language Pathologist, you will deliver direct treatment, help implement plans of care, and document progress to help clients improve daily communication skills. Requirements include at least one year of SLPA experience, a Bachelor's in Communication Sciences and Disorders, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year experience as a Speech Language Pathology Assistant.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from an accredited program.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct treatment of children and adults with communication disorders following IEPs or Plans of Care written by a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Communicates with client, family, and team members about home or community programs.
  • Adapts treatment and programs to meet individual needs under supervision of a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Documents results of treatment, follow-up, and termination of services.
  • Maintains documentation per department procedures and records indirect time and billable treatment times.
  • Complies with Infection Control, Universal Precautions, and OSHA standards for healthcare professionals.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and ethics while representing the organization.

Provides the Speech and Language treatment of the clients to develop, recover, or maintain their daily living and work skills, focusing on adapting the environment, modifying a task, teaching a skill, and educating the client/family to help the client increase participation in and performance of daily activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides direct treatment of children and adults with communication disorders following IEPs or Plans of Care written by a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Communicates with client, family, and team members about an appropriate home or community program to maintain or enhance the client’s performance.
  • Adapts treatment and programs to meet the individual needs of the client under the supervision of a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Documents results of client’s treatment, follow‑up, and termination of services.
  • Adheres to department procedures regarding documentation of Speech Therapy services. Records indirect time and billable treatment times according to department procedures.
  • Complies with all Infection Control, Universal Precautions, and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional. Maintains a safe and clean work area.
  • Complies with Easter Seals policies and procedures, utilizing the highest standards of personal and professional ethics and behavior.
  • Demonstrates good judgment, diplomacy, courtesy, and effective communication while working at Easter Seals or when representing the organization.

Experience: A minimum of one year experience as a Speech Language Pathology Assistant. Have a working knowledge and experience in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)—preferred experience working with children and adults.

Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from an accredited program.

Physical Demands: The ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects, equipment, and/or clients. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching throughout the day. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
