Job summary

Capability Health & Human Services in Reno, NV is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to support Early Intervention and outpatient clinics. The role involves evaluating and treating children, developing therapy programs, and preparing detailed reports for multidisciplinary teams.

The position includes traveling up to 80% within the service delivery area, including Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Henderson, and requires NV license, NB certification, CPR/First Aid, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Initial certification by National Board for Speech-Language Pathology.
• Current Speech Therapy License from the State of Nevada.
• Minimum of two years of experience working with children using knowledge of treatment practices per discipline.
• CPR and First Aid certifications.
• Valid driver's license.
• Knowledge of federal, state and local legislation affecting occupational therapy practice.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel).

Responsibilities

• Develops ideas, plans, and procedures for initiation, expansion, improvement, and evaluation of therapy programs.
• Completes initial evaluations and re-evaluations for patients in the program; examines patient condition and needs; determines need for evaluation and selects appropriate assessment tools.
• Prepares reports and attends multidisciplinary case meetings to review continuing treatment.
• Maintains clinical and administrative records in accordance with standards and policies.
• Participates in continuing education to meet Nevada licensure requirements.
• Case assignment as directed by program needs in Early Intervention and outpatient clinics.
• Interprets evaluation data and writes comprehensive reports reflecting strengths and barriers to participation; guides intervention.
• Follows Code of Ethics and standards of practice in decision making.

About this position

Description:

Job Summary:

Using a parent educational model int he Early Intervention program, a Speech Language Pathologist will help the client develop or regain physical or mental functioning by implementing programs to improve speech delays, conditions and feeding issues. The Speech Language Pathologist performs other administrative duties as maybe required in support of the program goals and objectives. This position is not limited to a certain zone. Area coverage includes but not limited to Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Henderson.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Develops ideas, plans, and procedures for initiation, expansion, improvement, and evaluation of therapy programs.
• Completes initial evaluations and re-evaluations for patients in the program; examines the condition of patients and analyzes their needs; determines the need for an occupational therapy evaluation and selects and administers appropriate assessment tools to evaluate the patient. Inclusive of MDT's.
• Prepares reports and attends multidisciplinary case meeting to decide and review the continuing treatment.
• Maintains clinical and administrative records in accordance with professional standards, state guidelines and agency system policy; adheres to federal and state regulation, and policies that affect occupational therapy practice.
• Participates in continuing education for professional development to ensure practice consistent with best practice and to meet Nevada Licensure requirements.
• Participates in bi-monthly staff meetings.
• Attends staff trainings.
• Case assignment will be dictated at the discretion of Capability Health's needs in the Early Intervention and outpatient clinic programs.
• Manages patients with different types of personalities.
• Interprets evaluation data and writes comprehensive reports that reflect strengths and barriers to client participation; directs program development; and guides evidence-based intervention.
• Uses professional Code of Ethics and standards of practice to guide ethical decision making in practice.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills may be developmentally and behaviorally challenged.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion pertaining to the work environment.

Qualifications (education, training, experience, licenses):

• Initial certification by National Board for Speech Language Pathology required.

Working Conditions

This position will require up to 80% travel with in the service delivery area. This position will be out in Las Vegas area outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat, extreme cold, wind, poor air quality and wet or humid conditions, etc.
