Job summary

The Californian-Pasadena is seeking a full-time Speech Language Pathologist to join our 82-bed skilled nursing facility in Pasadena, dedicated to exceptional resident care. Reporting to the Rehabilitation Director, you will assess, treat, and document progress, provide therapy services, and collaborate with physicians, staff, and families to support communication and swallowing goals.

CPR certification and licensure are required, with 1–2 years in long-term care preferred.

Qualifications

• CPR certification is required.
• Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist licensure is required.
• 1-2 years in long-term care preferred.
• Candidate must have good physical and mental health.
• Must be able to perform physical requirements including lifting up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Experience with supervision of responsibilities is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessment, treatment, and rehabilitative services for residents with speech-language disorders.
• Treat patients following Speech Language Pathology standards of care and practice.
• Observe and evaluate treatment effects and discuss with staff, physicians, and Rehab Director.
• Monitor and document resident treatment and response.
• Develop teaching plans with learning needs, involving family when appropriate.
• Adhere to documentation standards and facility policies.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. CPR Certification (Required)
2. Licensed Speech Language Pathologist (Required)
3. 1-2 years’ experience in long-term care preferred.
4. Good physical and mental health.
5. The candidate must be able to perform any physical requirement of the position, including lifting dead weight or an unassisted weight of 40 pounds.
6. Is capable of following oral and written instructions.
7. Have training, knowledge, and experience, which allows for general supervision of responsibilities.

REPORTING:

The Speech Language Pathologist Reports to the Rehabilitation Director

JOB DUTIES:

• Basic knowledge of physical medicine, physical therapy modalities, anatomy, and physiology.
• Treat patient following Speech Language Pathology Standard of Care and Practice.
• Provides Assessment, treatment, and rehabilitive services to patients who have experienced injury or disability disease. Provides residents with exercises related to Speech Language Pathology
• Adheres to standards of physical medicine practice.
• Ability to observe and evaluate treatment effect and discuss observations with staff, Physician, and Rehab Director.
• Responsible for the monitoring and documentation of resident treatment and response.
• Assists with formulating a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and assesses learning effectiveness; family is included in teaching as appropriate, and staff and Physician are apprised of conclusions.
• Meets current documentation standards and policies
• Adheres to the facility’s Policy and Procedure
