Job summary

Onward Education is partnering with a local charter school network to hire two Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) for the 2026-2027 school year in Wayne County, MI. This is a school-based, student-facing role supporting communication, language, and social-pragmatic skills so students can thrive academically and socially.

In this role, you'll assess students, provide direct therapy services, support IEP implementation, and collaborate closely with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
  • School-based experience strongly preferred.
  • Comfortable collaborating in a fast-paced school setting.
  • Experience with AAC and social-pragmatic supports is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct student evaluations and speech/language screenings using formal and informal measures.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and service plans, and support 504 needs when applicable.
  • Provide direct therapy for articulation, fluency, receptive/expressive language, voice, and social communication.
  • Support AAC implementation, including devices/systems and carryover strategies.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education teams, administrators, and families to integrate services.
  • Maintain compliant documentation, progress reports, and service logs per state and federal requirements.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, eligibility determinations, and progress monitoring.

This is a school-based, student-facing role supporting communication, language, and social-pragmatic skills so students can thrive academically and socially. In this role, you'll assess students, provide direct therapy services, support IEP implementation, and collaborate closely with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Position Details:
  • Role: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
  • Setting: Charter school network (multiple campuses)
  • Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week
  • Caseload: Up to approximately 60 students max
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct student evaluations and speech/language screenings using appropriate formal and informal measures
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and service plans, and support 504 needs when applicable
  • Provide direct therapy for needs such as articulation, fluency, receptive/expressive language, voice, and social communication
  • Support AAC implementation as needed, including devices/systems and student/staff carryover strategies
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education teams, administrators, and families to ensure services are effective and integrated into the school day
  • Maintain compliant documentation, progress reports, and service logs aligned with state and federal requirements
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, eligibility determinations, and ongoing progress monitoring
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • School-based experience supporting IEP-driven services strongly preferred
  • Comfort working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and fast-paced school environment
  • Experience with AAC and social-pragmatic supports is a plus
