Ohio County Hospital in Hartford, KY is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to provide evaluation, treatment, and discharge planning for patients in a hospital/clinical setting.

You will develop individualized plans of care, supervise students as needed, reassess progress, and document care in the patient chart. The role requires a Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology, BLS within six months, and willingness to work days including holidays and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology.
  • BLS certification or obtain within six months of hire.

Responsabilités

  • Evaluate and establish the individualized plan of care and discharge planning for each patient.
  • Supervise students providing care under supervision.
  • Reassess patients and adjust the plan of care with measurable goals and timeframes.
  • Complete accurate documentation of care and treatment.
  • Maintain department and clinic operations and perform chart reviews.
  • Demonstrate yearly competencies and participate in marketing and community service activities.
  • May be a member of the QI team.
  • Communicate via email to stay updated within the organization.
  • Perform procedures in line with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Job Shift: Days, including Holidays & Weekends.

POSITION TITLE: 227 - Speech-Language Pathologist.

LOCATION: Hospital Setting and/or Clinical.

REPORTS TO: Director of Rehab Services.

REVISION DATE: 5/1/2026.

Qualifications
  • EDUCATION: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required for all positions (may be allowed to sign a GED agreement to obtain within 6 months).
  • REQUIRED: Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • OTHER REQUIREMENTS OR LICENSURE: BLS certification or obtains within six months of hire.
Job Description

Physical Demands & Working Environment

Usual working space is a well-ventilated area. Requires standing, walking, turning, bending, stooping, and lifting. Clear speech to communicate effectively with customers (e.g. patients, families, and other team members). Fine and gross motor skills. Environment may be stressful at times, therefore ability to work under stressful conditions is necessary. Lifting up to 50 lbs may be required, anything over 50 lbs should be a team lift or with the use of a lifting aid. Also subject to bloodborne pathogens at all times in patient care. May have occasional exposure to radiation during radiology procedures and to dangerous chemicals (cleaning and disinfecting agents).

Essential Job Functions & Key Responsibilities
  • The speech therapist is responsible for the evaluation, establishment of the individualized plan of care, provision of treatment, and discharge planning for each patient upon referral from the physician.
  • The speech therapist also supervises any students that may be providing care under their direct supervision.
  • The speech therapist reassesses patients as warranted by the medical condition, changes to the plan of care as needed, and establishes appropriate goals that are functional, measurable, and with time frames for completion.
  • The therapist completes accurate documentation regarding the care and individualized treatment of the patient.
  • Each therapist will maintain the physical nature of the department and clinic and will complete chart reviews as assigned.
  • Each speech therapist will demonstrate yearly competencies and evidence of professional development. In addition, each speech therapist will participate in marketing efforts, community service activities such as athletic physicals, health fairs and any other duties deemed necessary by the Director of Rehab Services.
  • May be requested to be member of QI team.
  • Frequently accesses email to stay up to date on information within the organization and provides a way of communication between staff members.
  • Performs all procedures in accordance with established policies and procedures of OCH and adheres to legal compliance policies and other regulatory issues.
