Job summary

Hall County Schools in Georgia seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist to provide assessment, therapy, and collaboration across elementary and secondary classrooms.

The successful candidate will develop individualized therapy programs, screen students, and work with teachers, families, and staff to support language and communication development. A Master's in Speech-Language Pathology and Georgia PSC certification or CCC-SLP are required, with opportunities to consult and train staff.

Qualifications

  • Georgia PSC certificate or CCC-SLP certification required or equivalent.
  • Alternative qualifications as approved by the Board may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a resource to school staff for developing balanced oral communication programs.
  • Provides therapeutic services to meet individual needs of speech and language impaired students.
  • Assists teachers in observing and referring suspected speech and language issues.
  • Performs thorough articulation, voice, hearing, stuttering, and language assessments.
  • Provides screening to identify speech handicapped children at regular intervals.
  • Facilitates referrals to community agencies and specialists as appropriate.
  • Develops individualized therapy plans to address student needs and correct impairments.
  • Collaborates with teachers to implement therapy in daily activities.
  • Provides information and counseling to families when appropriate.
  • Offers in-service education and serves as a consultant on speech improvement topics.
  • Keeps thorough ongoing records for therapy and services.
  • Maintains lists of referred, screened, and eligible students and external resources.
  • Compiles case history data with relevant developmental and health information.
  • Manages requisitioning and maintenance of necessary equipment and supplies.

Job description

Qualifications
  • Minimum of Speech and Language Pathology certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission or CCC‑SLP Certification from ASHA.
  • Minimum of Master’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Performance Responsibilities
  • Serves as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement.
  • Provides a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of speech and hearing handicapped children.
  • Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments.
  • Provides a thorough assessment and diagnosis of articulation, voice, hearing, stuttering, and language impairments.
  • Provides screening to identify speech handicapped children at regular intervals and at specified levels.
  • Assists in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate.
  • Provides appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual students needs and to correct existing speech or language handicaps.
  • Collaborates with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by making suggestions for the students daily activities.
  • Provides information, support, and counseling to parents and families when appropriate.
  • Provides in-service education and serves as a consultant to teachers and school members on topics concerning speech improvement.
  • Keeps thorough ongoing records for the individual student receiving therapy or other school-provided speech services.
  • Maintains lists of referred, screened, and eligible students, as well as a directory of outside agencies, consultants, specialists, and related services.
  • Compiles case history data on those cases where additional family history, health history, early developmental history, and environmental history are deemed appropriate.
  • Assumes primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and supplies.
